Thelma R. Wright Foundation

Mission

To empower women and at-risk teens, both male and female, to maintain their self-worth and achieve economic independence. We aim to achieve this through education, mentorship, and life skills development, fostering an understanding that their contributions in life truly do make a difference.

Thelma R. WRIGHT College Scholarship

Eligibility Requirements for ALL Applicants

Be an African American male or female

Be a US Citizen or permanent resident of the US

Enrolling for the first time at a US accredited college or university 

Please submit the following to Thelma R. Wright Foundation no later than July 1, 2025

1. Official High School Transcript


2. Two Letters of Recommendation from a teacher, school counselor, other school official or clergy


3. Letter of Acceptance for a bachelor's degree program at an accredited college or university


4. Proof of Enrollment Letter


5. 500-550 Word Essay incorporating the following themes: 


What a college education means to you.

How you overcame an adversity and what it taught you.

How you plan to give back to the community upon graduation.

Application for College Scholarship - Award Amount: $1,000
